I have a lot of friends who are committed to suicide prevention, a topic that I avoided for a long time because the only person that I knew to commit suicide was only 11 at the time and it was a very heart breaking experience for me. I also avoided this topic because it is something that I myself contemplated for a long time and even attempted once, which is what lead me to the Ultimate Comforter.
Obviously, this is something that I don't talk about very often, but it so very important for everyone to know that these thoughts haunt all of us at some point, but that being said, it's nothing to joke about. Seeking attention through suicidal comments is absolutely disgusting, especially when made by an adult. I have a great deal of empathy for people who are truly suffering in the pits of depression but little patience for those who use it as a tool of manipulation.
For anyone reading this who truly needs help, please contact http://www.save.org/ This is a wonderful organization that provides a great service. But please start by reaching out to a family member or a friend. Don't suffer alone, you'll be surprised how many people want to support you when you talk to them. Here's a song for you!
Life's Worth Fighting For by Church of Rhythm
Got the call at 5 pm
You roommate said you'd left a note saying you could use a friend
So I went to the hospital with my heart all choked up tight
And I prayed while I drove, praying you would be alright
That morning you called to talk
You talked about how life was a merry go round
and you wanted to get off
But I never thought I'd see you here
I never thought I'd hold your hand
In your hour of need
I always thought you'd cry for help
I always thought you'd understand
That life is worth fighting for
Life is worth fighting for
So you thought no one understood
You thought tomorrow would be easier
If we went on without you
But my friend it's a lie, please hold on, call for help
Oh my friend it's your life, you are not by yourself
So you're living on the razor's edge
Well I've been there myself holding a gun to my head
If you hold my hand, can you hold on for a moment longer
If you know I love you, does it make it better?
Don't give up, don't give in
We can make it together
